Karma's, Science's, and Western Religion's Common Ground

In Science you learn or at least memorize Newton's Laws of Motion - 'For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.'

In Western Religions you learn - 'Do unto other's as you would have them do unto you.'

In many Eastern Religions you have the equivalent of Karma - 'Each action/deed has a cause and effect. And in many the motive behind the action or deed determines the effect.'

So what is the reason I bring this up? I am bringing this up because I am studying Globalization and writing a paper on China which involves Human Rights which has in turn gotten me into several passionate conversations about freedoms - of speech, of religion, of self, of choice, ect.  Also, watching the graphic nature of the abuses of the human rights as a few friends have pointed out must be tempered with the positive side of what is happening and the good that is coming about.

So today I am going to just put down some headlines of some amazing human victories!

Tara Miller is suffering from Glaucoma and her eventual vision loss, but with the help of her 12 year old son she captured this award winning photograph in Winnipeg for a contest by Eye Remember, Raising Awareness about Glaucoma.

Allan Guei, a high school student at Compton High won a $40,000 scholarship to college when he hit a free throw during a basketball game.  That is pretty amazing for any student now in this down turned economy, isn't it!!! What is even better??? He gave it to ALL the other 7 finalists! Guei, a star on the basketball team was already heading to Cal-State on a full scholarship and he wanted to give his classmates the chance to go to college too and he wrote,   "Like any young people, whether it's my kids or someone else's, you hope they are given opportunities to show what they can do. These Compton High grads have a lot of talent. They have a lot of drive, and I wish them all the best."    (http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1237085) WOW! And that is how you change the world - one perception, one action, and one reaction at a time!

Ian McMillan at a Baseball game shows how all of the above applies and will close out todays blog and shows again in his words 'If you do good things, good things happen to you.'
