The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveller hastens toward the town,
      And the tide rises, the tide falls.
Chesapeake Bay, Ferrell McCollough
Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in the darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands,
      And the tide rises, the tide falls.

The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveller to the shore,
      And the tide rises, the tide falls.

We All Come From the Sea

St. Augustine, Florida
"We all come from the sea. But we are not all of the sea. Those of us who are, we children of the tides, must return to it again and again, until the day we don't come back, leaving behind only that which was touched along the way."

Caladesi Island, Florida with dad

I return to the sea again and again and again because she is beauty, she is clarity, she is humbling, she is my center.... she is home.... Jen (aka A Girl Named Fred)
