Invictus

Winds of Change, 30 x 40 Acrylic and Mixed Media on Canvas,
2008, Nancy Christy-Moore

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

~ William Ernest Henley (1849-1903)

Show Your Soul

"One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul." ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes

A Girl Named Fred Telling Thor to 'bring it'
The urge to defend, attack, insult, refute, or ignore during turmoil or attacks from others is often a gut reaction and at times may be warranted; however  while it may bring a short term sense of accomplishment or vindication it will not solve the problem, in fact it is likely to make it worse.  By being who you are at your core, at your soul level and striving daily to show that to the world during the sunny days and the storms is what has long term effects on people around you.  There will always be those one or two who do not 'get' it, but that is alright. Their karma is their responsibility, your karma is yours.
